UCHUU TRUST is a dedicated rescue team committed to the rescue,rehabilitation, treatment, release, and education regarding snakes and wildlife in and around the district of Udupi.
Motto: To safeguard snakes and wildlife from all forms of harm.
Societal Impact: A significant misconception in society about snakes leads to widespread fear. UCHUU TRUST aims to educate people about snakes and human conflicts to eradicate this fear and promote understanding. They emphasize that snakes are an integral part of the ecosystem and food chain, just like humans.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
Through their educational efforts, UCHUU TRUST strives to transform the public perception of snakes. They work to foster a mindset of coexistence and highlight the ecological importance of these reptiles, ensuring people understand that snakes play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.
RESCUE AND TREATMENT:
Upon rescue, wildlife undergoes a quick examination to determine the extent of injuries or issues. This is followed by necessary medical treatments, including surgeries, medications,and wound care. Diagnosing and treating diseases is also a critical step, often involving quarantine to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Detailed records of the animal’s health, treatments, and progress are meticulously kept.
Continuous monitoring of behavior is essential to assess the well-being and recovery progress of the animal, ensuring effective rehabilitation and the possibility of a successful return to its natural habitat.
Objectives
- Treat and release diseased, injured and orphaned wildlife and reptiles as per Indian and international wildlife protocols while also mitigating wildlife conflicts in Udupi District.
- Develop standardized protocols for responding to public calls involving wildlife issues that ensures the interests of both the people as well as the wild animals are protected.
- Developing diagnostics and treatment protocols for Snakes, reptiles, Bird and small mammals commonly found.
- Specialization in complex Snake rescues common in environments like house, garden, Complex and other areas.
- Increase scientific based approach in rehabilitation techniques and use technological solutions to improve standard of care for the animals.
- Create databases of bird snakes and common types of injuries and locations where the wildlife distress calls are coming from and systematically address them through awareness.
- Create a forum which brings together wildlife rehabilitation facilities, individual rescuers, Forest Department officials and concerned citizens together to address conflict wildlife issues.
